HistoryCCH was founded in 1969 under the name ‘Clallam County Hostelries’ by local parents looking for an alternative to large, state run institutions. Their first program was known as the Outlook Group Home located in Port Angeles. This facility provided 24 hour care as well as group employment opportunities to adults with developmental disabilities.
In 1972 the agency relocated to a newly constructed facility called ‘Hazel Street Group Home’ that was specifically designed to meet the needs of 12 developmentally delayed clients. In 1997 the agency started its first Supported Living program. Due to its success, they soon expanded to open other Supported Living programs throughout the Olympic Peninsula. 2010 brought about the sudden closure of a local agency providing services for developmentally delayed adults. With little notice, the state asked CCH to step in and provide a continuation of services. Through the hiring and support of those agencies existing staff and management, the transition was made with no disruptions and CCH more than doubled in size. In 2011 the agency officially changed its name. The initials ‘CCH’ were kept as a nod to our old title (Clallam County Hostelries) while ‘Individualized Support Services’ describes our commitment to services tailored to the individual rather than trying to fit the person into the program. In 2011 CCH accepted its first private pay client from within the local community. In August 2016 CCH assumed a contract for 14 clients residing in Port Townsend. Along with the clients came over 40 new employees and a full-time office. |
